Raiden flies from arcades to the Xbox 360

raidenp.jpgWith Ikaruga, Trigger Heart Exelica and Shikigami no Shiro III the Xbox 360 is becoming the premiere console for shumps this generation. We’re going to add one more game to the impressive lineup, Radien Fighter Aces, a compilation of the Raiden arcade games on a retail disc. Insert Credit saw Radien Fighter Aces in an issue of Famitsu and noticed Success (remember Operation Darkness?) is publishing this in Japan.

It’s a shame Success is going the retail route with Raiden Fighters Aces. I bet they could make just as much, probably even more money, if they opted to sell each game over Xbox Live Arcade.

I couldn’t disagree more.

I and many others still vastly prefer a physical retail product to a digitally distributed title. The fact that will be available at retail means I will actually purchase it. The same cannot be said for it’s digital brethren.

I agree with you 100% C-Jo. Physical media can last through a hard drive failure, and I just plain like to have boxes and manuals that I can touch.

Interesting! I was really thinking of gamers outside of Japan when I made the comment. Shmups traditionally have a hard time at retail, but Xbox Live Arcade is a nice home for the genre outside of Japan.
