7-Eleven and other retailers set up shop inside MapleStory

Nexon is taking a step towards bringing corporate America into MapleStory. In the future 7-Eleven and other “mega store partners” will be integrated inside the MMO with “themed quests”. Players who try the adverquests may be rewarded with a virtual Nexon Game Card. The card can be redeemed for Maple Points, which can be spent on virtual pet food. I’m not exactly excited about a virtual 7-Eleven® slurpee™ hunt, but Brad Haga, the senior product director for business development and services at 7-Eleven is.

“Our more than 5,500 U.S. locations and 24/7 operation makes it easy to pick up a prepaid Nexon card.   A virtual 7-Eleven store in MapleStory allows us to better connect with a very important demographic playing in the world of MapleStory, while also offering a fun and interactive experience for users.”

Jokes aside, this is an interesting concept. If Nexon gets enough support we may just see a MapleStory mall area with Best Buy, 7-Eleven and Target (perhaps selling the dog as a pet?) in the future.
