Screen Gallery – Phantasy Star Portable

By Spencer . December 7, 2007 . 7:33am

Next spring, Phantasy Star is coming to the PSP, but don’t get too excited. Phantasy Star Portable is not a brand new installment in the series, it is a scaled down version of the two Phantasy Star Universe games on a single disc. Sega is peppering the ports with new elements like extra boss fights and new missions. However, it drops online network play in favor of a four player ad-hoc mode. For the diehard Phantasy Star crowd that is probably a deal breaker, but the value of having two games in one package may pull in newcomers.

Sega… Hear me… PHANTASY STAR V please! Enough of this PSO and PSU nonsense! We’ve only been waiting 15 years. Jeez.

Daniel Primed Says:

Its strange, some of those shots look quite nice and yet the tetures in other look majorly blurry. In anycase I’m looking forward to this title.

Savory Says:

I was a die hard PS & PSO fan and I hated PSU when it first came out. I tried it again now that the expansion is out and I’m actually enjoying it quite a bit. Still not as good as the previous two incarnations, but it doesn’t deserve all the hate it gets. Anyway, the PSP version supposedly collects the story modes from the game, plus the ad hoc content. PSU Ep.1’s story is a little weak, but Ep. 2 was pretty good and so far Ep. 3 is starting off great. This might not be so bad after all.

Mr.Pervert Says:

I hate PSU give me PSV or PSO for the DS!
Yeah I’m with Dani the bosses looked nice the rest looked well…..terrid….trying to hard to pull off bad ps2 and you end up with n64…

bakerboi Says:

@Mr.Pervert c’mon dude…N64? Look at the stuff on NDS now THAT looks exactly like N64. Do you see any squared body polygons? How bout ground sinking? The textures might look flat but dont compare them to the pixelly polygonal mess that was N64.

Now on the other hand…what’s the best looking NDS game they say is out, NG:Dragon Sword? Looks like it was built with leggos.

Stop reaching at this game just cause you so call hate PSU.
