PSP firmware 3.80 picks up internet radio wavesOn December 18th, PSP firmware version 3.80 comes out in Japan. It adds in a nifty feature for people who bought the 1seg TV tuner, the ability to record streaming shows. Users can schedule to record a show, throw their PSP into sleep mode and watch the stored show at their leisure. Neat idea, but it is unfortunately useless for anyone outside of Japan.

The other major feature allows users to listen to internet radio. While it isn’t clear how this works, a screenshot shows it can pick up Shoutcast streams. That’s good enough for me!

Man! Another reason to move to Japan….. I wonder if it’s worth it to buy the tuner in Japan, and use it only when I’m on vacation there.
