No plans for Castle of Shikigami 3(60)

By Spencer . December 14, 2007 . 7:41pm

Earlier today, Aksys announced Castle of Shikigami III was coming to the Wii. In Japan, Arc System Works released the bullet hell shooter on two consoles the Wii and the Xbox 360. The press release I got only mentioned the Wii, so I sent Aksys an e-mail about the fate of Castle of Shikigami 3(60). Here's what I was told, "At this time, we are only releasing the Wii version."

I'm a little dissapointed by the news, but elated to know that we're at least getting the game.

The game would’ve been perfect for online leaderboards.

Hmm, I thought the 360 version was announced for the US a long time ago. Guess I was wrong.

i don’t think i’ve ever gone from love to hate so quickly.

I think for the western X360 market this game would be more suited to the XBLA.

The Wii should be the better console to release it as a separate SKU outside Japan though, like Geometry Wars and other games.

Spencer Says:

@EvilAkito - Yeah, when I talked to Arc System Works at TGS I was told the opposite. They said the Xbox 360 version was coming out and they were deciding about the Wii version. I’m as surprised as you are.

David Says:

This sold like 1,000 more on 360 than it did on Wii on its release day lol. I have a feeling they might change their minds.

EvilAkito Says:

Ahh, that makes sense then. I probably read about it either on this site or GoNintendo.

As far as sales go, I’m quite saddened. It sold 1,500 on the 360, and 500 on the Wii. The shmup genre really is dead.
