Sony’s latest firmware updates add more than internet radio for the PSP and DivX/WMV playback on the PlayStation 3. An unannounced feature allows owners of both systems to play black bottom PsOne discs by taking advantage of Remote Play! I think this is self explanatory, but you need to leave a PsOne disc in your PlayStation 3 to access it. So, you have to leave Intelligent Qube or Tekken 3 in the PlayStation 3 before you go out and avoid completing multi-disc games when you’re miles away from home. Oh, and games that require two analog sticks like Ape Escape might not work perfectly. For such a cool technical feat these are really minor issues.
@ Mr. Shen: I’ve got 5 games for you: Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, God War: Chains of Olympus, Patapon, Wipeout Pulse, and Wild Arms XF are coming by April 2008. Oh, and you want PS2 BC? Just go buy a 60 gig PS3 while you can still find them!
As for the new update, I’ll have try out that PSone feature tonight. I bet Lunar would look great on the PSP…
Since the last update, is it just me or does it take at least two tries to start the PS3 remotely w/ the PSP? Also if I enabled the remote turn-on feature (like Wii’s connect 24), my system would always turn itself back on after I turn it off, really wonder what gives. Until I get these problems straightened out, I don’t think I would want to mess w/ the remote thing yet.
This is an awesome feature. I’m off to try Persona 2.
wow, nice ! some maybe we’ll get to play ps2 or ps3 games on/via psp sometime ? (need clever trick for the missing buttons on psp though)
Sweet, just tried out Puzzle Fighter on the PSP
This opens up tons of possibilities.
You’re right, thought there was only the lackluster GBA port. Well, just tried out the first PSone game that came to my mind. Would mess w/ the radio later.

I think this is an amazing feature. I personally don’t own a PS3 (I’m a Wii360 DS person at the moment), but things like this make the system look that much better.
Now I’m just waiting for five games that I want to be released.
Oh, and PS2 BC to somehow, magically, make its way back into the system.
