I’ve been enjoying King of Fighters XI for quick matches for a few weeks and technical details like progressive scan never crossed my mind. I think I was too busy trying to grasp the revised system to notice. King of Fighters XI is a complicated game!
Insert Credit noticed something was up right away, progressive scan found in the Japanese release was missing from the US build. When Brandon contacted SNK he heard that “the US code is based on the pall version of the source code and the support for the progressive scan mode was disabled in that version of code.” NeoGeo Battle Coliseum has the same issue. While it’s easy to cry foul, these games cost substantially less in the USA than they do in Japan. In fact, you’re paying less for the extra work someone put in to remove the feature.
Lame… I was about to buy both from Amazon this week. Now I don’t think I’ll get them…
Angelous, trust me, this is the best version of King of Fighters that I ever played. Give it a shot, and youll see what I’m talking about.
Interesting that you Americans got basically PAL versions with an NTSC stick on the front.

yeah, in europe, they use that 480i-480p menu for 50-60Hz so in the us they kept 60Hz and removed the menu.
