Puchi Eva migrates from cute toys to a DS game

puchieva.jpgJust when it seems like Gainax couldn’t milk the Evangelion franchise anymore they came up with Puchi Eva Evangelion@School. The project stars super deformed Shinji and emphasizes his time at school instead of angel slaying. On March 20, 2008 the cuter version of Eva arrives on the Nintendo DS care of Namco Bandai who decided Puchi Eva is best as a touch screen adventure game. Tapping the screen to solve everyday puzzles is far from what I imagine when I think of an Evangelion game. No matter how many cute toys come out of Japan Evangelion remains a depressing, overly emotional story in my mind.

I don’t mind the cute Eva toys myself. If I had more space, then I’d get some of them for myself. Sure, Eva as a series is pretty depressing, but I try not to think about it so much. It’s only a tv-show after all, and to honest I’ve always liked some emotional drama to go with my anime shows anyway. It spices things up a little, instead of everything being just your typical happy-go lucky dreck. :p

This series probably happens in an alternate universe or something, that what i would think. Especially since their was an episode in the seriens that happens in an altenate universe. Comics and anime and science fictions love the idea of a reality that is similar but different. It opens a whole new realm for them to explore. I would not be suprised if the game never was ported to the States though.
