This past month a handful of PlayStation 3 games got unannounced, automatic updates. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock addressed lag issues in its 1.01 update. Later, Andrew over at PS3 Fanboy discovered Heavenly Sword got an 18 MB update that added rumble support.
Yesterday, I popped Time Crisis 4 in to find myself whisked to an update screen prompting me to update the game to version 1.01. The Time Crisis 4 update was 18 MB in size, just like the Heavenly Sword patch. Is something massive going on behind the scenes? Probably not, but I it would be nice if each update disclosed details about what the patch modifies.
18mb file?
Prolly a high quality rip of “Bohemian Rhapsody”.
At the same time there has been some slowdown on MS LIVE… coinciende?!
I didn’t update timecrisis4 and played the game. During the FMV, it felt choppy on some parts and took time to load the game. After finish playing the game, i turned off PS3 and later i turned back on. Poped the game disc in, and it gave me the death code and ps3 not recognize any discs.
before Timecrisis4 i never had any problem with my ps3 and i always had latest firmware.
@80010514 - I probably should have asked this earlier, but did your PS3 ever recover? I wonder if this has less to do with the Time Crisis 4 patch and is a greater problem.
The same thing happened to me. When I finally got the update to download and install on my PS3, it stopped reading discs.
It is currently with Sony getting fixed/replaced (thankfully it’s still in warranty).
My ps3 didn’t recover, i have tried all methods of restore, backup and format. I sent my ps3 off to repair,it took 1/1/2 months to come back *sigh* and just received it today. I gotta test it out but i dont think i will try TC4 without patch like last time.. too scared this might happen again
