Rumor confirmed: An Iron Chef game is in the oven

By Spencer . January 2, 2008 . 3:08pm

nic.jpgA hardworking GoNintendo reader (Happy New Year RawMeatCowboy!) dug up listings for an Iron Chef game on Gamestop. I don’t think this is widely known, so I’ll come out and say it: this game is, in fact, in development.

Unfortunately, the Iron Chef game is not based on the classic Iron Chef show. The Nintendo Wii game is based on the Food Network Adaptation. The license was quietly handed over to Destineer sometime late last year. Possibly in November when I was too busy debating if I should get Cooking Mama 2 to mention this. (Note: I didn't.) No word on how Iron Chef will play yet, but the probably more realistic Nintendo Wii cooking sim is slated to come out in the second quarter of 2008.

Bah. There’s no way this could measure up to the greatness that was Cooking Fighter Hao.

Not based on the original show? Pass.

William Raymer Says:

It should have the original Japanese Kitchen Stadium as an unlockable arena, as well as the original Japanese costumes. At least Morimoto is in the game (I hope…)
