When I say they aren't that obscure, I mean that, like in the West when female say they play video games and add they don't play games like Popcap or casual like everyone thinks, there are Japanese female gamers who say yes I am female I play games but I don't play sappy saccharine games like Neoromance. (game lineup by Koei of romantic games for females which include Haruka)

Of course they are obscure in Western countries but that's because they haven't been released in Western countries, and apparently the main reason Koei won't release Neoromance lineup of game in the West is because they believe there are not as many females who like video games in the West as in Japan. (thus no market)

-It's not that obscure in Japan, at least amongst female gamers.

-The port to the Wii makes sense because this game series is for female players and the Wii and the DS have more female users than males according to Nintendo.

-Apparently they don't even show the characters kissing, so this game is less erotic than a Disney movie, thus I don't see what is so strange about releasing it on the Wii.
Just the the characters embracing and the male character declaring his love to the heroine.
The game Duel Love, on the DS, which is also for female players, is way more risque than this, the heroine can wipe sweat off blushing guy's torso!

-It's not a straight out high school dating simulation either, it's more like you save the world then depending on the choices you make the guy you end up with is different but there is not any dating. Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1 and 2 which have been ported to the DS are real dating simulation.

-This game isn't a visual novel. A visual novel is a game where the text covers the entire screen with illustrations in the background.

DS has some pretty risque otaku-centric games, so I doubt there would be any problems getting such content approved on the Wii. It seems that Nintendo and Sony's content standards are pretty much the same these days anyway.

@alice - "eroge" wasn't the right word, I should have said something like risque because you're right even Fate/stay was censored for the PS2. Still, I guess it feels out of place to see some high school dating sim appear on the Wii, even though of those kinds of games are matriculating on the DS.

And you're right about the Dreamcast, after it died the visual novel publishers shuttled to Sony. :)

1. I thought PS2 games were devoid of eroge content, as were Dreamcast versions as well.
2. Didn't a lot of publishers switch from Dreamcast to PS2 after the former's demise? I know some of the big players were putting out DC versions.
3. I'm guessing Wii (or the DS) for the install base alone.
