Slim PSP owners get Skype this month

By Spencer . January 6, 2008 . 2:27pm

In late January, Sony will release a system update that puts a Skype icon in the Network category of the PSP home menu. Calling Skype users and people around the world via the PSP sounds neat, but you need an optional microphone accessory to make use of the feature. Also the update is restricted to slim PSPs (PSP-2000). If you're stuck with a PSP Phat you will not be able to use Skype until a wizard with incorporates it into future custom firmware.

This free phone service is interesting, too bad they’re neglecting all those 1st gen PSP users, I guess Sony just wants people to buy a 2nd one too, to boost sales against the almighty DS :)

Actually I’ve been wanting to upgrade mine to a thinner and lighter 2000, is there any news when US would release the white col individually? Sry, I just don’t want a Darth Vader head on the back of my system.
