Games for Surface, table top video puzzle

One of the new technologies Microsoft showed at CES is Surface, a touch screen table with a variety of applications. Most of them are geared towards retailers, but they had one unique game to test. Their video puzzle program uses physical plastic tiles. When they are placed on Surface the space underneath the clear pieces lights up with pieces from a Forza 2 video. However, the video is jumbled and its up to a player to physically drag the shuffled pieces in order. While Surface isn’t specifically for gaming developers could make new gameplay experiences with the technology.

Damn I remember seeing one of those in a video clip during a college lecture a couple years back! They were in a testing phase, they didn’t play any games but each block ran its own little program [like manipulating photos for instance].

On a whole other note, for some strange reason I’m reminded of Apple’s multi-touch coffee table. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industry/4217348.html
