Sorry for the delay. Lobot, I actually didn't mind the hinge delay. Personally, I prefer the feature as it allows me to better angle the ball. Treating the hinge as a physical space within the game is probably the better of the two solutions quite honestly. It allows you to expect the ball to come out at the right place and time if you're watching it. Games such as Contra 4 use this hinge delay and I think it works well. Of course, that's only my opinion.

Hello vysethebold,

Back on Sept. 27, 2007, Spencer wrote about the "gap" issue that he wasn't to crazy about. What is your opinion vysethebold, on the hinge space "built in" by Taito. Does it take away from the game experience in any way?

"The thing that I wasn’t too crazy about was how Arkanoid was placed on the dual screens. Yes, it looks better than being letter boxed, but there is a noticeable delay when you switch screens. It’s as if the developers programmed hinge space into the game."

What I would love, love, love to see is a DS paddle-controlled recreation of the old Atari classic, Warlords. WiFi and internet multiplayer, with souped up graphics and sound. Oh, then I'd drool. OK, so I'm drooling anway. If they ever run a special on the combo I'll buy it. Maybe I'll buy it anyway. Hopefully homebrew software developers can tap into this controller and give us more paddle goodness as well.

Yeah, sorry guys. The meat of the article was lost when we posted today. This is only supposed to be the intro. We'll have it fixed tomorrow. Don't worry, I have a full review of both the Paddle Controller and Arkanoid DS.

So how well does the paddle work? Certain sorts of games like Arkanoid, but earlier ones like Breakout and Warlords need a paddle controller. I've been trying to play Atari Classic Evolved on my PSP, and it's almost impossible to play those games with the analog stick - so something like this would be perfect for emulating the old Atari game gameplay.
