From Guilty Gear to BlazBlue

Fresh off Sengoku Basara Cross, Arc System Works is developing another 2D fighting game. Not much is known about Blazblue: Calamity Trigger outside of the genre and that it runs on the Taito Type X2 hardware. Compared to Guilty Gear the concept art looks different, it’s not as deviant as the designs for say Faust. The characters look rather militant. I don’t want to judge a book by its cover so it’s probably better to hold any more comments until the official site updates with details on the fighting system.

I remember seeing the first scans of this. A lot of people cried out it takes place 20 years after Guilty Gear XX, but these claims are completely unsubstantiated.

I actually hope it's a new franchise with a fresh fighting system -- I'm always up for trying a new way to play a 2D fighter.

I'm totally going to withhold judgment of anything Arc System Works does in regard to 2D fighters until I can play it myself. If you had described Guilty Gear to me years ago I would've probably dismissed it on it's strangeness alone.

this year's aou is looking pretty good. sengoku basara, this game, and street fighter 4 will all be there. i'm really looking forward to what's being shown.

btw, how about some coverage of that game that got kind of passed over, battle fantasia? any chance we might see that one come over here? i mean, since we're getting arcana heart, i feel nothing is out of the question now.

Great news...IÂ´m glad Arc System Works is keeping the 2D fighting genre alive (along with some others). IÂ´m still dissapointed with SF IV being 3D...(even if the gameplay is 2D, itÂ´s not the same). I hope Sengoku Basara Cross and this game get released at least on PS2 in Japan.
