Sting is working on a mystery project

By Spencer . February 1, 2008 . 8:14am

Sting is working on a mystery projectAn announcement is looming about a new game from Baroque/Ygddra Union developer, Sting. The splash page says “Dept.Heaven Episode IV” with sixteen days left on the counter. The other clue is the URL. Notice how it is placed in the “knights” folder. Sting usually puts each series in its own folder, which suggests this isn’t another Riviera remake.

Anyone have a guess on what it might be?

hope it’s a new RPG for Wii, I want more than ports.

But they’re likely testing the market, so I’d say PSP or something.

Wii RPG… haha thats funny. I’m sorry, I love Sting and Atlus, but Baroque isn’t going to well on the Wii. The Wii’s audience and Demographic simply will was pass Baroque by so they can purchase Deca Sports or Carnival Games.

Personally, I feel that Super Smash Brothers Brawl will be the beginning of the end of games directed at “core” gamers. Nintendo, and every 3rd party publisher/developer, know that money to be made on the Wii is through casual mini-game collections. It’s sad but true.

Whoa, calm down there. He’s not bashing it just pointing out that the Wii demographic isn’t one for dark games, or RPGs. It is targeted at the casual gamer. That doesn’t mean it wont happen, just that it’s less likely than other platforms.

The wii was actually built to be a hardcore/innovative system but soccer moms and casual gamers adopted the system and companies then started developing games for the crowd/market that had adopted it…hence the casual gamers.

Here’s to a dark wii rpg!

If the Wii was built to be a “hardcore” system, then they wouldn’t have shipped it with Wii Sports.

Anyway, my guess is it’s some sort of SRPG with an angelic theme. It’s not uncommon for those series to start in the middle and have episodes. My guess is for the Wii/PS2, but possibly also the PSP and just possibly, though unlikely, it could be for the PS3

The Wii isn’t going to be a ‘dark’ or ‘serious’ system until someone puts out a dark or serious game on it. Then it will be. All it takes is precedent, and it’s done.
