DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu to be unveiled at AOU2008

DoDonPachi Daifukkatsu to be unveiled at AOU2008 images After a bit of a hiatus, Cave's highly regarded DoDonPachi series will be making it's return at the AOU2008 Amusement Expo on February 15-16. Well…sort of. It will be unveiled at the show. No word yet on whether or not it will be playable, however. It's been five years since the last installment in the DoDonPachi series, DoDonPachi DaiOuJou for the PS2 (one of my personal favorite shmups), so a new entry in the series is long overdue in my opinion. I just wonder what arcade hardware it will be running on. Atomiswave, or maybe Taito's X2? And more important than that, I wonder when or even if we'll see a home port. And if we do see a home port, how would it be released? Digital distribution might be good for a title like DoDonPachi, though I wouldn't mind seeing a disc-based release as well. One thing's for sure though. Whatever form it takes, more DoDonPachi is always a good thing.

seriously, this is shaping up to be the best aou ever. all those fighters, and now a new dodonpachi? i wish i could go. there is far better stuff at this show than there was at tgs.
  • Levi you are a clown. The game will run on a custom low-res PCB, just like every other Cave shooter in the last f***ing decade. And the chance of getting a port is pretty much nil, let alone "digital distribution" for crying out loud. Stick to writing about whatever it is you DO understand for the love of God. Pokemon, JRPGs, whatever.

No word on if it will be playable? The official AOU page, which you give us a link to as your "source", says in plain Japanese that it will be PLAYABLE. I guess you can't read Japanese? So where did you get this info from if you can't read what's on that page? List your real source, douchebag. Instead of stealing news from reputable sites and passing it off as your own.

Also, it will be on the same custom Cave low res PCB as every other game they've released since 2004. So no high res, and likely no port. Haven't had a port since Ibara, after all (we've missed Espgaluda II, Pink Sweets, Mushihime-sama Futari, Muchi Muchi Pork, and Deathsmiles since then). Of course someone who knew the first thing about Cave would know this, instead of seriously pondering "Atomiswave or Type X2?" and a "home port or digital download".

Amusing line. Coming from you, that is.
