Flight Plan summons Summon Night DS in April

snight.jpgEven though Banpresto will be officially absorbed into the Namco Bandai conglomerate they will be publishing Flight Plan’s remake of Summon Night on April 24. The Nintendo DS remake adds obligatory stylus control, but unfortunately no Wi-Fi battles. Perhaps, Japan won’t care because Summon Night DS is faithful port of a PsOne game that never saw the light of day anywhere else in the world. Since Banpresto will be part of Namco Bandai when it gets released Namco Bandai could localize this and give the Summon Night series a fresh, international start with the Nintendo DS remake.

How does this compare to the GBA release that Atlus release a couple years ago?

  • http://www.siliconera.com Spencer

@alice – Surprisingly pretty different. The main installments in the Summon Night series are SRPGs. Summon Night: Swordcraft Story is an action RPG. I would probably compare the former to something like Final Fantasy Tactics or any other grid based SRPG.

I hope hope hope they bring it to North America. I loved the GBA games, and I love SRPGs.

Really, huh. I had assumed the GBA version was a lo-fi port of the PSX game which while fun, was pretty forgettable and I couldn’t play the sequel for being more of the same. Now I’m definitely intrigued.

I would be more optimistic, but its still Namco. And they love not releasing things from Japan.
