Goods in the DX Phantasy Star Complete Collection

pstarcomplete1.jpgMy excitement for the Phantasy Star Complete Collection is waning because the Sega Genesis Collection contains most of the emulated games in the Sega Ages release. Phantasy Star I and Phantasy Star II: Nei's Adventure are notably absent from Sega USA’s collection. Fortunately, a bunch of other Sega classics ameliorate the situation. However, the Phantasy Star Complete Collection DX Pack is tempting. It contains the PlayStation 2 Sega Ages compilation, a four disc “Complete Album” set of Phantasy Star music, a Rappy badge and a badge for the upcoming Sega Ages 2500 Series 33: Fantasy Zone II DX release. The DX pack runs for 7,350 yen ($68), which is three times the 2,363 yen ($22) price tag of the lone game! The soundtrack alone costs 5,040 yen ($47).

    I *covet* the soundtrack.

Not sure about the game, though. As much as I love Phantasy Star, I’d still like to be able to play it without consulting a translation walkthrough.

The previous Sega Ages releases contained both Overseas (English) and Japanese versions. I hope this the same. I’m guessing (hoping) the emulation will be better than the Sega Genesis Collection, which had some sound issues.

  • I just found out today that my Mom is Jewish. Kinda cool, huh? She hid the secret all these years.
