Valcon Games rolls past Dai Senryaku in favor of next-gen

dai.jpgEven around the savvy Siliconera crowd the name Valcon Games is relatively obscure and with good reason. The Redmond based publisher usually releases budget titles like Ultimate Board Game Collection and if it wasn’t for a Game Boy Advance port of James Pond I wouldn’t even know they existed. Last year, I was surprised to see Valcon picked up the rights to localize Dai Senryaku VII: Exceed for the PlayStation 2. I presumed they would consider the PSP remake too, but Chris (thanks for the tip!) over from Cosmos Gaming points out this is unlikely.

He asked cut straight to the chase and asked “what’s next?” A member from Valcon Support replied, "Nothing like Dai Senryaku is on the horizon.  We're branching out in the PS3 and 360 titles in the future.  We should be able to give you more information about new titles in the coming months." Now I’m curious about what Valcon is up to. I can’t imagine them sticking around as a budget publisher due to increased development costs and a lower install base. Could Valcon be “branching out” into localization?

I wouldn’t be shocked to see PSN/XBLA ports of Ultimate Board Games (there’s already a Wii port, afterall)
