Golden Axe revived on the Dreamcast

goldenaxedc.jpgI’m one of the poor souls who bought Sega Ages 2500 Vol. 5: Golden Axe looking for a good co-op brawler. The experience wasn’t dreadful, but I haven’t cracked open the PlayStation 2 remake for years. Meanwhile, Golden Axe: Beast Rider looks nothing like the simplistic arcade game of yesteryear.

Members of the Insert Credit forums seemed to find the perfect medium, a remake of the Golden Axe arcade game. This Golden Axe remake doesn’t go out on a limb to use 3D graphics. It sticks to sprites and looks awesome, even better than the Xbox 360 remake. Pretty impressive considering it’s a homebrew project. Too bad Sega didn’t officially make develop something similar when the Dreamcast was alive and kicking.
