Wild ARMs 5 / Wild ARMs XF connectivity revised for North America

By Spencer . February 12, 2008 . 6:31pm

waconnet.jpgI don’t think this is well documented, but the Japanese version of Wild ARMs XF has a connectivity feature that unlocks additional content if you own Wild ARMs 5. Since XSeed released Wild ARMs 5 and are about to release Wild ARMs XF I wondered if the bonus items would appear in the North American version of Wild ARMs XF. Jimmy Soga sent over this answer, “to answer your question about WAXF and WA5 connectivity, there will be none for the US version. We made WA5 have all the upgrades and bonus materials in the game w/o the connectivity to the WAXF as we thought the fans will appreciate it more that way.”

I guess I won’t be linking up my PSP to my PlayStation 2, but that is fine with me as long as we get the same content.

Hello Hello Says:

Good move by XSEED. PSP-PS2 connectivity is horrible, and just as bad as GCN-GBA connectivity even.

Nick Doerr Says:

Huh. I was wondering that, but cool it’s already in WA5. I just need to get that far in the game, I guess. Har har. I’m a slow gamer. Unless it’s Devil May Cry 4.

jeffx Says:

great work finding this out. on the other hand I had no idea some PSP games connected to the PS2. I’m assuming through the USB port. Can you list some that did?

matty Says:

Awesome that they were thinking ahead.

Spencer Says:

@jeffx - honestly I can’t think of any other games besides Wild ARMs XF that had PS2/PSP connectivity. I imagine the feature isn’t too popular because of the hassle. Perhaps, PS3/PSP connectivity is the wave of the future.

JeremyR Says:

I believe some sports games would let you trade your teams between the two, but that feature was later removed in next years iteration. (I want to say MLB the Show 06 and possibly Madden, but I don’t remember).
