DS crossword competition, Sanuk Software steps in

sanukcw.jpgOver at Insert Credit Brandon Sheffield posted a highlight about Barnyard Blast, a DS game where he wrote the story. Sanuk Software who is developing the title is working on a second Nintendo DS game, Crosswords Challenge. No details or release plans have been announced, but DSI Games seems to have a relationship with them. When (if?) Crosswords Challenge comes out it’s going to face fierce competition by the New York Times, USA Today and Nintendo. Sanuk Software could differentiate their game with something like a Nintendo Wi-Fi database of user created puzzles. However, that future has limited appeal considering how difficult it is to make a good crossword puzzle.

Hi there! Thanks for posting about us.

As a matter of fact, we (Sanuk Games) developed both the Sun’s and USA Today’s crossword games. Our “Crossword Challenge” game engine was used in both projects. We have no plan to release a non-branded crossword game in addition to these.

We also did a French language crossword game called “Mots Croisés”, whose (non final) packaging art is displayed in your article.
