Log on to Nintendo Wi-Fi with Space Invaders Extreme

sieds.jpgAnother tidbit about Space Invaders Extreme, which isn’t highlighted, is its network features. Two players can compete in a versus mode and race to shoot aliens before they crawl to the bottom of the screen. In the Nintendo DS version the bottom screen has your aliens. The top screen shows the progress of the other player. The DS release also takes advantage of Nintendo Wi-Fi to connect players and record scores for a world ranking system.

Unfortunately the PSP version only has local, ad-hoc play, which nixes the online leaderboards. Ouch. To add insult to injury multiplayer battles shrink the second player’s progress to a tiny window. While the wider PSP screen is nice, I’ll take the DS version.

I take your recommendation as gold, Spencer. ;) Not that I have any choice in the matter, since I own a DS and not a PSP, but Space Invaders’ online component looks very strong.

Yup, I’ll have to go with the DS version as well. Also Spencer, do you recommend playing the game with the Arkanoid nob?

Spencer Says:

@Angelous - I honestly haven’t tried Space Invaders Extreme wit the Arkanoid controller. When I played it at TGS they didn’t even hint that the device would be compatible with any other games.
