Layton’s lost London adventure available for rent at Tsutaya

level5.jpgYou might remember the Level 5 booth at Tokyo Game Show had a humongous line and many of the patient patrons left without a coveted Level 5 Premium Silver DS cartridge. The rare gift had a demo of Inazuma Eleven, a soccer RPG, and a side story with Professor Layton vacationing in London. Fortunately, Layton’s (previously) lost adventure will be available to gamers in Japan through a rental program at Tsutaya.

Starting on February 21 copies of Level 5 Premium Gold will be available to try. Notice how the title changed to “Premium Gold”? Tsutaya’s version also includes a demo of Professor Layton and the Devil’s Box. While Tsutaya rents CDs for a fee, they don’t rent video games. Renting games in Japan is pretty much unheard of, which explains the huge second hand market. This promotion is quite special and I wonder how many hardcore Layton fans will “forget” to return the Level 5 Premium Gold cart.
