Pirate Treasure, library of Famicom downgrades

win2000nes.jpgThe unearthed pirate Final Fantasy VII ROM led to a library of 8-bit pirate adaptations found by Insert Credit. While the list is massive it is worth browsing through just to find items like Top Fighter, a 2D fighting game that brings together Ryu, Kyo, Cyclops, Goku and other SNK characters for the ultimate (non-mugen) mashup. Quick highlights include a video game version of Titanic, the “Hacker” (which appears to be a Matrix rip-off), The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap minus dungeon floors and my personal favorite Windows 2000. Sounds silly as a game, but the cart packs Solitaire (a gaming staple) and a fake (?) MS-DOS prompt. Amazing stuff.
