Taking names as a Nintendo DS “beast detective”

sds.jpgYesterday we reported about two games in Success’ DS detective series early. Famitsu has a look at both of them and Yajuukeiji: Tokyo Doujitahatsu Terror Wo Chinatsuseyo particularly caught my attention because it isn’t even remotely from what I expected it to be. When I think of detective games I imagine Sherlock Holmes, touch screen puzzles and classic “adventure”. Not blowing up terrorists with rocket launchers and doing deadly deka (still short for detective?) kicks in 2D.

Suddenly, this sounds mindless, but awesome. Kind of like the Oneechanbara minus the bikinis. Very Tamsoft-ish. The Oneechanbara developers are handling Yajuukeiji: Tokyo Doujitahatsu Terror Wo Chinatsuseyo. In typical Tamsoft style there is a meter in the shape of a weapon. In this case the meter changes depending on what gun the Yajuukeiji (literally: beast detective) equips.

It sounds like this game could potentially be garbage, but it’s hard not to have a slight bit of optimism. It’s one of those games that makes me think “boy I sure hope this game kicks ass.”

Sounds quirky, hopefully the platformer part would turn out to be fun. Looking forward to hearing about Otoshi Deka too.
