Three versions of 4, Metal Gear Solid 4

Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released simultaneously around the world on June 12. In addition to the disc only version of Metal Gear Solid 4, a special edition with a bonus Blu-ray disc and a PlayStation 3 console bundle are scheduled to ship on the same day in Japan. All three versions come with a Metal Gear Online Starter Pack, which North American gamers get an early taste of if they pre-order MGS 4.

Konami has not outlined any plans to release the special edition outside of Japan, but importing it on the region free PlayStation 3 should alleviate the problem. Hopefully, Konami will take advantage of the extra storage capacity on the Blu-ray disc and include multiple languages.

Update: A multiple language track release is not going to happen. There isn't room for additional voiceovers on the Blu-ray disc.

Hey Spencer, is the special edition in English? I know we can import one. Question is, would we be able to understand it if we don't know Japanese?

Hi Spencer I am intending to import the JP MGS4 Special Edition can confirm will there be English subtitles the very least ?

@Mike / Akiraman - Like an hour after this was written up Konami made it clear there will be no English voice acting. Subtitles/menus are another story, but I would be wary of importing MGS4: SE unless you're prepared to play it in Japanese.

Damn, I know there will be an AWESOME Konamistyle special edition! I was hoping it would the English voice acting too! Damn damn damn....

I really hope Konami USA give us some sort of special edition. Time to start sending email to Ryan Payton and Marc MacDonald...
