Tomy steps in to the 2.5 dimension with the Yatterman license

Earlier this year, the 1970s anime Yatterman went through modernization and became a “new” show in Japan. I haven’t seen the remake yet, but the show caught the attention of Tomy. In April they plan to release a Yatterman game on the Nintendo DS in Japan. Yatterman DS: Bikkuridokkiri Daisakusen da Koron sticks to the old school mechanics of running, jumping and occasionally swinging. One teasing feature that has yet to be completely revealed is a Mecha Battle mode, which seems to imply Yatter-One (a giant mecha dog) will play a role in the game. While the characters are probably unfamiliar to most, it’s hard to ignore a 2.5D platformer, a 2.5D platfomer with a mecha mutt.
