Glittering Beatmania IIDX 14: Gold is scheduled for a console release on May 29. Besides the release date there isn’t much to report, but how many more Beatmania games can Konami squeak out on the PlayStation 2. Will we see DJ Troopers? Probably, but beyond that the Beatmania series needs to move somewhere.
Where do you think Konami will take it?
I am in full agreement with JC Fletcher here. There is absolutely no reason to “move” these music games from one platform to another just for the sake of doing it when cross-platform presence can be easily maintained. This is especially true for those of us who have spent ¥20000+ each to purchase arcade style controllers from Bemani.

Same with everybody else here upscaling it and changing systems would be a costly move when everything is working just fine as it is and they have such a loyal ps2 fan base that has arcade controllers and the KOCS. HD graphics for IIDX is not really nessesary since its just a simple overlay anyway.

Why move it? It doesn’t need better graphics. A next-gen release would mean a higher software cost and new controllers.
