In Tokyo there is a place where people can rent cats. Yes, rent cats. Seriously! That is the entire purpose of Cat Cafe Calico. The concept sounds unusual, but in space conscious Tokyo it is understandable. Not everyone has room for a cat. Patrons who check into Cat Cafe Calico unwind by spending a few hours petting one of their (I assume?) docile cats in exchange for a nominal fee.
On April 24, Yume Neko DS (Dream Cat DS) comes out in Japan and Sega is teaming up with Cat Cafe Calico to promote the game. From March 26 to May 6, Cat Cafe Calico becomes Yume Neko DS X Cat Cafe Calico. The collaboration gives Cat Cafe Calico a makeover to simulate Yume Neko DS, except you’re playing with a physical cat. The store will have background music and a motif based on the DS game. Once you experience a taste of Yume Neko DS in reality, you can take the experience on the go by purchasing Sega’s DS game. Clever outside-of-the-box thinking Sega!
