DS owning Disgaea fans, rejoice! The latest issue of Famitsu confirms that one of NIS's five DS titles in development is indeed a Disgaea game. However, much like the PSP Disgaea, it's a port of the original. I know that some may not like this news, but I for one am psyched. I poured many an hour into the original Disgaea, but never completed it. Maybe now I'll have the chance to! Also, two more of Nippon Ichi's five DS titles were revealed, as well. The first is Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, which is presumably a port of the PS1 title of the same name. The second is a game titled Jigsaw World, which again appears to be a port of a PS1 title, this one being a jigsaw puzzle game (obviously). So we now know three of NIS's five DS titles, and they're all ports. I just wonder if the last two to be revealed will be ports as well, or original titles?
hm, that’s a shame about all the ports. rhapsody has nice art direction and writing (and music) but isn’t the best game.
agreed w/ finn. the game was full of charm but the battles killed it for me.
I disapprove of Disgaea DS, I just spent a wallet full on the PSP version when I would have rather had the DS version. I was kind of hoping that it would be a spinoff of sorts. Oh well…
The other two better be original titles, ports are good and all but just aren’t doing it for me.
I hope they pump a lot of side-content into these new ports to justify us buying them. Then again, we don’t know how many of these will actually see a North American release, do we?
It’s rather impossible for this port to have a spoken dialogues, right? >_>
But I’m sooo looking forward to Disgaea. Just like the authour of the article I played it for quite a long time, but never completed it :)
It’s not entirely impossible for it to have speech. Luminous Arc had a whole bunch of it, probably at least 5 hours worth and it didn’t sound too bad.
I think it’s sort of pointless given how good the PSP version is, but for people who don’t have a PSP, I guess it’s good, since it works much better as a portable game.
YES!
I’ve always wanted to play Rhapsody. Now, I can play it on-the-go!
I just don’t see the appeal in replaying an SRPG again on a handheld after I spent the 30 hours to beat it on a console.
Cool that Nippon Ichi is supporting the DS now, but having logged over 100 hours in the PS2 version, I don’t think I want to touch Disgaea ever again.
Ah!Me too I was close to beating it but never got around to playing it more,Persona 3 is really cool and I seem to play that more hehe.-^u^-
I’ll buy Disgaea again but I’d rather have new games on DS too.
I hope Nippon Ichi ports Disgaea 3 to the PS2 or the Wii quickly enough though. Hell, they could port Disgaea 1 and 2 too while they’re at it. (this said… I want new games too)
I got Disgaea on the PS2 and the PSP with over 300 hours combined playtime. So, I think I’m gonna pass. Rhapsody on the other hand, hell yes. ^^
Again? The psp version was already sublime. Touch-screen controls don’t make Disgaea any more of a winner. One for the newbies, I guess.
disgaea 2 and 3 for th other 2 games, or something original in the veins like a layton game, or a fighting game =] let’s dream guys

Yes, they didn’t forget about Rhapsody after all!
Hopefully, if it sells well enough it’ll pave way for the long-awaited sequels.
