DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label and Ketsui launch with replay mode

5pb.jpgBefore hearing about the Xbox 360 ports of Ketsui and DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label, I wasn’t aware of 5pb. After looking at their list of adventure-style roots I’m pretty surprised they decided to tread into new territory with arcade shmup ports.

At least their first titles will be well equipped with a replay mode where players can save data of their best runs. It is unclear if 5pb will have some kind of online community where these videos can be shared, but both titles will include Xbox Live connectivity through online leaderboards. Speaking of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label, 5pb plans to cash in on microtransactions too by selling themes and icons.

I really hope there is some interest in bringing these to the US. Atlus? XSeed? Anyone?

I am extremely familiar with 5PB’s music lineup, but this is the first time I hear about them publishing game. In particular, you should check out their famison series, where haruko momoi covers old anime theme songs redone as 8bit tracks. Now I just need to get my hands on their Namco idolm@ster 8bit remixes.

Aksys seems the likeliest IMO, as they’re bringing over Shikigami no Shiro III—and they’re not giving it the “Mobile Light Force” treatment. There’s actually already a thread on their forums about it.

Though Atlus DOES have that relatively new 360 certification…their crazy die-hard fans have a tendency to disdain anything that isn’t a hardcore RPG.

R Says:

D’oh — “it” as in, a request for them to localize DOJ BL and Ketsui.

@R: I’m a crazy diehard fan… and I’ll buy anything they put out. Including that Snowboard Kids game.
