Cell phone to WiiWare, the evolution of Tenshi no Solitaire

Recommended Videos

When I scanned the initial WiiWare release list I was familiar with most of the game. Tenshi no Solitaire (Angel’s Solitaire) stood out as one of the titles I didn’t recognize, which prompted my curiosity. There isn’t much to write about when it comes to gameplay since it’s just a package of three types of solitaire stuffed into one WiiWare game. You get Klondike (Windows Solitaire), Tower Off (Freecell) and Angel’s Solitaire where you align cards into single color towers. Finishing games of solitaire uncover panels and eventually open a piece of artwork. For less than the same price as the Tenchi no Solitaire you can also buy a deck of cards and have the same experience minus the angel/devil mascot characters.

Speaking of the mascot characters they weren’t always girls. In G-Mode’s mobile phone version of Tenshi no Solitaire, which only contains Angel’s Solitaire, they were babies!

G-Mode developed the WiiWare version too, which brings them back to their console developer roots. Back in the 90’s they did mostly PC-Engine / TurboGrafx-16 stuff like Silent Debuggers and Magical Drop for the Super Famicom. Now they mostly work on mobile phone game. Perhaps, we’ll see more cell phone to WiiWare ports from G-Mode in the future? Legend of Axis looks sort of interesting.
