I usually don’t talk about non-gaming stuff on Siliconera or write tales about the “terrors of gaming” because I like to keep Siliconera light-hearted and more importantly fun! However, I just want to get up on a (tiny) soapbox for a moment to mention the Iowa Caucuses. (Yes, if you don’t live in the USA you can totally ignore this.)
Discussion is brewing about presidential candidates and their stances on issues related to video game legislation. GamePolitics, who is really interested in that kind of thing, (happily?) notes two candidates with harsh views towards games didn't fare well last night. Great, but I urge you to not base your vote, especially a vote in the primaries, solely on a politician’s stance on video games. Outside of our microcosm there are more important issues at hand like international relations, war and the economy to pay attention to. The subprime mortgage woes aren’t going to vanish over night! These issues and many, many more take precedent over video games. So before you get out there and pull a lever think about the bigger picture. And do go out there and vote! During the primaries too, which are arguably more important than running to the polls in November.
