Ace Combat team brings Sky Crawlers to the Wii

sc.jpgThis summer an anime adaptation of Sky Crawlers by Production I.G. flies into Japanese theaters. It wouldn’t be right if Sky Crawlers didn’t have some kind of licensed video game. Namco Bandai is taking care of it and the director of Ace Combat X is leading the project.

However, Sky Crawlers won’t be coming out for the PlayStation 3 or the Xbox 360. Sky Crawlers is a Nintendo Wii game with easy to use controls. What are they? Namco Bandai hasn’t revealed that information yet or any other details on how it plays. The official site is still in teaser mode too, but Famitsu has a few screenshots to check out if you are interested in a motion controlled flight sim that has nothing to do with Wing Island.

I’m expectant to see this one, I just hope they’re not directly recycling their PS2 engine and stuff.

Finally preferential top-tier-team support on the Wii and hopefully a sign of things to come from Namco.

    It’s no Ace Combat though.

  • I`m sorry but Ace Combat never drew me in. Sky Crawlers the fact that it’s on Wii might. Put me down intrigued. I still have alot of respect for this dev team but I’ve never really found a “flight sim”-esque game which pulled me in since… I dunno, X-Wing. It’s a problem. I tried following Larry Holland’s Secret Weapons series but it just wasn’t the same man. I prefer non-violent flight games anyway like Pilot Wings 64, but those done well are few and far between.

Therefore…motion control? IGN says “The Wiimote will be used as your throttle, with the nunchuck used as your control wheel.”
