Castlevania X and other Virtual Console games Japan gets in April

cx.jpgWith WiiWare out in Japan it feels like Nintendo is slowing down with the Virtual Console. Thankfully, there are some games to look forward to next month like Phantasy Star III. Oh wait, North America already has Phantasy Star II and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which commands an unorthodox 100 Wii Point premium in Japan too. Well if you don’t have Metal Slug Anthology, SNK is releasing Metal Slug and Phelios is a unique take on the vertical shmup genre.

OK, there honestly isn’t much on the list that stands out compared to what North America already has. However, Japan gets Castlevania X: Chi no Rondo, better known now as Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. It’s arguably one of the best installments in the Castlevania series and a steal for 800 Wii Points ($8). A real bargain unless you purchased Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles last year, which includes Castlevania X: Rondo of Blood as part of the package.

Here is the complete list of Virtual Console games coming out in April. Games marked with a * will come out on April 1.

Savory Says:

OMG, they get Musha Aleste on Mega Drive?!! O__O
That’s one of my favorite shmups ever, but I’ve been loathe to spend $80+ on a complete copy of the US version. I really hope that one comes to the US, but who owns Seismic’s back catalog now?

Spencer Says:

@Savory - I can’t say for certain, but Naxat Soft is listed as the publisher. Something else notable is Paon, the company who developed Donkey Kong Bongo Blast, is somehow the publisher for Hercules no Eikou IV, which I thought was done by Data East.

Hero of legend Says:

Actually, Wikipedia’s Paon page says that Paon bought Data East’s games to put on the VC!

Spencer Says:

@Hero of legend - Now that explains something and raises more questions! What are they planning to do with all this intellectual property…

Shin Says:

Valkyrie no Densetsu
Castlevania X: Chi no Rondo
Metal Slug
musha aleste
super wonderboy

that’s a lot of awesome games for such a short period of time !

EvilAkito Says:

Bokosuka Wars? That’s hilarious. I hope they release that one in the US as a VC import just as a mean practical joke.

EdgeKun Says:

Dracula X on Virtual Console? I don’t even know how to respond to that. ;o; Sadly it probably won’t be coming stateside any time soon (if at all) though. =\
