Starting today, downloadable content for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King will be available in Japan. The first wave includes buildings that let players recruit the other races. Each one costs 300 Wii Points ($3) individually, but you can save 100 Wii Points by purchasing a tribal house pack. Other items include new clothes for Leo and Chime plus helpful buildings like a Sacred Shrine for 200 Wii Points ($2).

Here is a roughly translated list from Impress Watch. The denominations in parentheses indicate the price in Wii Points.

Three tribal house pack – A bundle, which contains three houses below (800)

Lilitie’s House – allows recruitment for stout Lilitie warriors (300)

Selkie’s House – allows recruitment of stealthy Selkie thieves (300)

Yuke’s House – allows recruitment of mystic Yuke mages (black/white) (300)

The King’s new clothes – grants the little king new outfits, which can be selected at the castle (100)

Dress up Chime – grants Chancellor Chime new outfits, which can be selected at the castle (100)

Sacred Shrine – allows construction of a sacred shrine where adventurers can get a temporary boost (200)

Extravagant House – a place where many citizens can congregate (100)

This isn’t the end of extra content for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King. In the future Square Enix plans to release a dungeon called the infinite tower and a library. Prices for these items have not been announced.

Up to this point, all of the content in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King adds up to 2800 Wii Points ($28). This number includes the 100 Wii Point discount from the three tribal house pack. Remember, this pricing system is only for Japan. As of now Square Enix USA has not outlined plans for the North American release, which is expected to come in May.

Keriaku Says:

Well that isn’t to bad. Seems reasonable atleast

Kay Says:

Square-Enix wins at eating your money. Even through a downloadable Wii game they can make more money out of you than by making you purchase a normal one. (My money would be going down the drain if I had a Wii.)

Other than that, looks quite nice.

Melody Kitn Says:

Yeah, the curiosity piques at just how jacked up the prices may end up being come u.s. release… I would’ve just as easily placed down money without hesitation had it been a normal out-of-the-box game, but now I’m meticulously trying to see how much extras add up to. Oh you crafty cash-shop wannabe, the ‘free-to-play’ mmo ways have trickled onto console gaming.

SteveJ Says:

$28 is too much for a game you can’t you resell. Here I’m presuming there is no way to resell a downloaded game, since I don’t have a Wii nor any next gen console, which I suppose makes my opinion moot.

nika Says:

I don’t think there is a way to sell downloaded games either, unless you’d sell the whole memory and/or console. but eitherway, this is starting to come closer and closer to the price of a normal game…

TacoBeaver Says:

I LUV STUPID UNNECESARY GAME CRAP :D Im buying a lot of dat stupidness and I bet all those the thangs will be the same for US version

TacoBeaver Says:

P.S. right now Im spendin 2600 (no shrine) and I bet there will be a mega bundle for 2500 wii points… OH *&$#!% MY WII MEMORY T^T

Pedro Silva Says:

too expensive, I’m only buying the game.

Eric Says:

uhm, about the “allows recruitment for ***** warriors”
does it means with buying this, later we can recruit as much as we want? or we must pay for another character from the same tribe?

Spencer Says:

@Eric - Once you buy any of the race expansions you will be able to recruit as many of the specific race you want. So, to make things crystal clear if you purchase the Selkie’s house you can populate your town with tons of Selkies.

alice Says:

Other than for aesthetics, is there a point to the extra races?

Spencer Says:

@alice - I don’t think it’s been made explicitly clear, but the races have some kind of difference in stats and starting job. You can probably ignore them for the most part though since Clavats clear dungeons A-OK.

Eric Says:

Wow,wonder how much money will I spend on this one. It’s way too tempting. I hope nintendo would sell a “value pack” very soon.
