There’s no guaranteeing that they didn’t strip out the paddle controller support in the US release. Hopefully the didn’t, but it wouldn’t be a shock if they did if they really aren’t going to offer the paddle controller in the US. Also, with regard to playing Space Invaders with a paddle controller. Why? Space Invaders never used a paddle control. It was just buttons for left, right and shoot. Playing Space Invaders with a paddle controller seems like it would just be weird and akward.

Yeah, this is awesome news. Ever since I did my review I’ve wanted Arkanoid DS over here. Hopefully if they don’t release the paddle here, they’ll at least leave the option to use it in the game so I can play the US Space Invaders with it.
