Street Gears skates into beta, still no Jet Grind Radio Online

It seems like forever since I mentioned Street Gears, which caught my attention last year mostly because Jet Set Radio has a fond place in my heart. While the graphics are eyecatching the gameplay is a far cry from an open world where cel-shaded inline skaters fight over turf by tagging it.

 

Street Gears is a simply a MMO racing game where flashy tricks increase your speed. If you want to get in on the action early beta test applications open up on April 9^th and end on April 16^th. Gala inc., the Japanese publisher, will select 10,000 names at random to start testing the game on April 30^th. Since this is a beta test for Japan you probably won’t be allowed to play unless you’re in Japan or have a proxy account. Regardless, I’m going to throw my hat in the ring just for kicks.
