Sega wants to make a big splash with Sonic Unleashed and it’s coming out for four consoles later this holiday season. As long as you have a PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii or PlayStation 2 you will be able to play some version of Sonic Unleashed. Graphics should be the most poignant difference between the versions, but I am curious to see how Sega is going to compress Sonic Unleashed into a working PlayStation 2 title.
Time plays a role in Sonic Unleashed and Sega hints that something different happens at night. Could all the rumor about Sonic turning into a wolf be true? Other changes include a HUD with a speed meter and a bar for ring energy. The ring energy bar is a mystery, but the speed meter probably has something to do with the four new speed mechanics in Sonic Unleashed. These are supposed to play a role with high speed combat, somehow.
Once again Sonic is on a chaos emerald hunt. His journey spans seven continents where he has to save the world, himself (twist!) and the Sonic franchise.
The 2D gameplay looks good, I really hope this could finally be a decent next gen Sonic game. And no more disastrous camera angles.. For the Wii version, I suppose there would be a steering scheme just like the 7 rings?
Wii gets ass raped by PS2 port confirmed.
