Square Enix: No paddle controller for NA

To resolve the discussion whether Square Enix USA will bring over the paddle controller or not, I asked them. Unfortunately, the reply was “we are not bringing over the paddle controller for the NA version.”

If you absolutely must get your paddlin’ on you can still import the accessory for around $20. However, Play-Asia is out of stock of all colors except pink. NCSX seems like they have a broader selection of colors available. Before you fork over cash you might want to read Vysethebold's impressions of the paddle controller.

Thanks for the clairification, I just ordered one from Play-Asia (to match my pink DS, yes). The shipping is a minimum of $9 though which made me cringe a little.

Wow, that’s incredibly lame news. Import this accessory, please, if you have any interest in either of the two games. It is one of the best peripherals I’ve ever used.

The big question still remains – will the US version of the game support the paddle controller even though they aren’t selling the controller here? I.e. did they strip out support for it or leave it in?

@SteveJ – The games will work with an imported paddle controller. Support has not been stripped out.

I just ordered a white paddle from NCSX. It was just under $32.00 after UPS ground shipping to California.

Ah, then this is a must have. It sucks that the controller will cost more than the game, but oh well. Still cheaper than importing the bundle.

yesasia.com has the silver paddle controller for $29.99 with free international shipping. They don’t seem to have any other colors. But I’m having a hard time justifying the expense even though it does seem really cool. I like arkanoid, but do I like it for $50? Maybe I’d rather just pay $20 and use the stylus. Hmm….
