Wii descends on South Korea

By Spencer . April 7, 2008 . 4:51am

wii.jpgNintendo Wii launches? Been there done that. South Korea sort of feels the same way since imported Wiis are readily available in Yongsan. However, sometime in the near future Nintendo will officially launch the console in South Korea. Nintendo of Korea set up a page with a few videos demonstrating the remote that lack celebrities. Will Jang Dong Gun come back for a few rounds of Wii Sports or will Nintendo move on to another icon? We’re open for guesses.

No Hangul friendly titles have been announced and it according to the spec sheet the Wii does not come packaged with Wii Sports. Not too surprising considering Nintendo of Japan didn’t bundle Wii Sports with the console either. I wonder how that will affect consumer decisions given a choice between an imported Wii Sports package versus a local Nintendo Wii.

In any case, let the wave of locally developed Korean mini-game collections begin.

ok… mostly people import from japan right?

Spencer Says:

@TacoBeaver - Actually, South Korea had both US and Japanese Wiis when I was in the area. US and Japanese games too since the Freeloader wasn’t in existence either.
