Remap emulated PsOne buttons on the PSP

psbuttonr.jpgRemember item swapping woes when playing Metal Gear Solid over remote play? Unfortunately, Sony can’t add an extra set of shoulder buttons to every shipped PSP. They can offer a solution though and it’s part of PSP firmware 3.95. The firmware upgrade includes a PsOne button remapping tool. The four analog stick directions can be changed too, which can essentially replace a set of shoulder buttons.

Notice how the downwards analog stick swing registers L1+R1? It looks like limited combinations can be saved too. I wonder if Sony allow Hadoken style mapping. Street Fighter Alpha EO here we come.

The other notable feature allows remote play users to shut off their PS3 from anywhere in the world as an eco-friendly novelty.
