"The Journey" in Persona 3 FES lets you play through the entire game with added features. I thought that FES was just an expansion pack and that I needed the original Persona 3 disk to take advantage of the new features, but fortunately that's not the case.
Incorporating your old save file into The Journey is easy. Just choose to start a new game. After some information about what's been added in FES, the game will ask if you have an old Persona save file to be transferred. If you do have one on your memory card, then you can transfer your registered persona, fusion spell combinations, rankings in academic, charm and courage, and all the items you gained when you maxed out your social links.
Once your old save file is transferred, the game starts from the beginning as normal. While I'm excited to test out the new weapon fusion system, I just wish there was a way to skip through the lengthy introduction parts and get to the meat of the game.
< Spencer’s note: Japan has two versions of Persona 3 FES. A cheaper append disc that requires the original version of Persona 3 and a stand alone complete disc. We’re getting the complete disc in North America at the price of the append disc. >

This is going to be a stupid question. Other than saying you have them, is there a point to the items gained through max social links? Does having them allow access to fusing the ultimate persona in each tarot class? Like I said, dumb question, but I’ve got to know =P
@Nick Doerr - You’re right on the money. They allow the top level Persona fusion with that arcana.
Hey i haven’t played a persona since um the first one ^_^ and i haven’t had a ps2 since about the time ffx came out. But my question is do you think this game will be rare? couse im planning on picking up a ps3 when the metal gear solid ps3 comes out in june and i hear its backward compatible so im hopeing i can get my hands on this game and odin spear to (wich i’ve never seen anywhere
)
@Heero420: Yes. Yes it will be rare. Name one Atlus game that’s not (at least semi-rare)
@Heero
yeah, just buy it now. it’s cheap as chips, and once the initial print run sells out, the prices on ebay and all will probably be ridiculous.
Do you need a save file from a completed game or any save file will do?
@TwistedParadox
Any save file should do. It’ll just import the persona and status you have from your current one.

Less than two weeks to go until Fes releases. I need to increase my Academics, Charm, and Courage as much as I can in the mean time…
