AtomKonami sneaks gunmetal PS3 outside of Japan
Angelous clued us into (thanks!!) an unexpected move by Konami. They will release the limited edition Metal Gear Solid 4 PlayStation 3 pack, containing a steel tone PS3, in North America. This bundle was announced for Japan some months ago and it quickly sold out at Konamistyle. Perhaps, Konami was saving stock for North America.
The price? Konami didn’t disclose it, but expect the Gunmetal PS3 to be rare. The announcement has a clear warning: the bundle isn’t very limited it is “VERY, VERY limited.” Good luck getting one.
The other option is to get the now bland looking package with an 80 GB PlayStation 3, Dual Shock 3 controller and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Special Edition.

gunmetal should have been the standard color. or at least, they could have made this dust and fingerprint magnet in a matte finish.

When they said MGS4 SE at the Sony blog, they meant standard edition. The 80gb bundle comes with the standard game (thus the standard edition box art on the front of the 80gb box). The ‘Special’ or limited edition game only comes with the gunmetal bundle or as a stand alone game exclusive to gamestop (blah).
