Limited edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 limited to Gamestop

mgsle.jpgHoping to pick up Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots Limited Edition? Konami is only giving copies to Gamestop and it costs $84.99. For comparison’s sake the game alone costs $59.99 when it comes out on June 12. The extra $25 goes towards packaging designed by Yoji Shinkawa, a soundtrack CD and a Blu-ray disc with two making of Metal Gear Solid 4 documentaries. One of the features includes an interview with Hideo Kojima. If you pre-order either version you are entitled to a Metal Gear Saga Vol. 2 DVD and a beta code for Metal Gear Online.

The $85 price tag for the limited edition is depressingly amusing since Japan pays around that price for the standard edition of Metal Gear Solid 4. Konami Computer Entertainment Japan stuck MGS 4 with an 8,800 yen price tag ($86). The limited edition retails for 9,800 yen ($96) in the land of the rising sun. Yes, the dollar to yen exchange rate is that bad.

There is about zero chance of getting the pre-order DVD if you try to order online, the stores may have them in stock now but otherwise you are SOL.

I preordered it, even though I do not have a PS3 (WTF eh?)

Actually, Gamstop.com is REALLY good about fullfilling “pre-order” bonuses for online orders. Even better than the brick-n-motar store. So if you order online, your almost guaranteed a Saga Vol. 2 DVD. I email Gamestop about the “Beta Code” for online pre-orders as well and they responded back to saying that they will email the “Beta Code” to customers who’ve placed orders.

Also, Gamestop.com is saying that the LE case will be metal and there will be an art book as well. Sweetness. I hope the art book is “hard bound”

alice Says:

Well I said that based on the fact that I have a regular-edition preorder which has the DVD listed, and a Limited-edition preorder made a few days later with no DVD listed. So I assumed the DVD stock for online orders was exhausted.
