CyberConnect2’s Naruto PS3 project storms into North America

By Spencer . April 14, 2008 . 12:01pm

I heard about Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm last week, which sounded like an extension of Naruto Shippuden to me. Hurricane Chronicles and storm are both related to weather. Maybe this would be a localized version of Naruto Shippuden: Narultimate Accel?

Nope! Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm had a surprise reveal on the PlayStation page with Kotaku spotting the news on The Magic Box. Namco Bandai is moving on with the PlayStation 3 version of Naruto, which sticks to the youthful characters all the way up to the rescue Sasuke arc. Players pick a three man squad and take on 100 missions in Ultimate Mission Mode. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm looks gorgeous, but the game will only have 25 characters. Five slots are taken up by Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kakashi and Neji, which leaves you to guess who the remaining 20 characters will be.

Oh my god!

Looks good and I hope this would be fun. One of the things that bothered me about the 360 game (other than aimlessly running around & collecting coins..) were the obvious fake street signs.. the Konoha streets are filled w/ “dentists”.. constantly reminding me the game was made by Ubisoft.. Usually not a big fan of anime games, but I’m drooling for this and DBZ Burst Limit.

They are still 60 episodes off from the Shippuden arc for the North America broadcast even though the manga release caught up already, so probably no Shippuden games for a while unfortunately.

Hello Hello Says:

Only 25 characters? Come on, this is ridiculous. Ultimate Ninja 3 for the PlayStation 2 has over 40! I’m getting the feeling that CyberConnect2is going to be lazy with this game, and that it’s going to come off really half-assed like Ubisoft’s Rise of a Ninja for the Xbox 360.

szamyasa Says:

i hope it has original voices in it, all other dubbs suck bad

Hello Hello Says:

The Japanese version of Naruto has some of the worst voice directing ever.

nika Says:

Maybe, but still better then the american voices.

It looks nice, let’s hope it plays nice as well ;)

Aoshi00 Says:

Atari said that both Jpn & Eng. voices would be in DBZ Burst Limit, I hope it would be the same case for Naruto PS3/Xbox 360.

Not saying the Eng. dub is bad, only heard them once or twice, just like I’m used to the Jpn DBZ cast ever since I was a kid (and Kageyama Hironobu’s Cha-la Head-Cha-la).

seiya19 Says:

I also hope it includes the original voices and no censorship/localization edits or something like that. Otherwise, I´ll have to get the japanese version like the others… The US voices are terribly annoying from what I´ve heard (I haven´t seen the US version, but I have played some of the US games) while I love the japanese voices.

seiya19 Says:

PS: Aoshi00, this game is for PS3 only…at least, so far.

TacoBeaver Says:

this one looks fantastic…

Naruto Fan Says:
