Dragon Quest V dated for July

Dragon Quest V dated for July imagesSquare Enix has a busy summer schedule for North America filled with Final Fantasy. In Japan, the Nintendo DS remake of Dragon Quest V is a key release. ArtePiazza will finish their work on July 17.

This will be the third version of Dragon Quest V. As we mentioned before the Nintendo DS remake will include at least some of the improvements from the PlayStation 2 remake. Square Enix has still not announced if they will give Dragon Quest IV an international release. While chances may feel low, they already have a rough translation of Dragon Quest IV. The proof is in the ROM.

I'm really hoping that Square-Enix USA announces DQIV for release this coming fall and hopefullt DQV won't be too far behind with an early 2009 release.

Hopefully DQV will contain a hidden translation as well. If so I'll definately import it this time since I've never played through it.

As awesome as this is, I would love it even more if SquareEnix would get off their asses and either remake the original three, or at least give us a compilation. I have them for my Gameboy/GBC (thank goodness I kept my GBA SPs, but I think this is long overdue. I mean, seriously, how many more times do we need a Final Fantasy # remake. Lets get to doing the DQ lines. And for god's sake, gimme Secret of Evermore and freaking Secret of Mana 1-3, not this weak-ass Heroes, Legends, Awesomsauce, Eulogy of Mana bullshit they've been cranking out...
  • Sigh. While the DS may have a lot of nice games, I find it a bit lacking in JRPGs (compared to other types, at least). I may not be a huge fan of the genre, but it sure is nice to play these types of games on the DS.
