National Geographic used to sell Panda Diary

Earlier this month we mentioned Panda-San Nikki (Panda Diary) as a pet panda game for the Nintendo DS. At that time it was only scheduled for Japan, but it’s coming to North America too with National Geographic’s name on it. Outside of Japan Panda-San Nikki will be known as National Geographic Panda.

Aside from the name change the game is the same. You play with pandas and if you do a satisfactory job you get more pandas for Panda Park. The ecosystem is depending on you to save the pandas… well not really. There isn’t any “panda-monium” (quote from Namco Bandai) to worry about. Actually, National Geographic Panda sounds quite relaxing.

National Geographic isn't developing the game, but they are contributing a database of panda facts from their stories. Namco Bandai Japan has yet to announce a similar agreement with National Geographic, which could mean these factoids will only be found in the US version.

I wonder.. maybe both ver. would have the database except the Jpn ver. wouldn’t advertise it as much? Like Prof. Layton’s puzzles, in Jpn they credited on the cover the real professor behind the brain teasers.

I’m glad this is coming out in the US since I’m interested in this game but don’t want to pay import price. lol, I actually have a panda plush from Toysrus wearing a pandamonium T-shirt :)
